Preventative Maintenance   
If you experience any problems with your system, HomeGuard™ Security Services can provide you with on-site repairs. During such repairs, we will determine the cause of the problem, correct it, clean all smoke sensors, run a complete test of the system and replace any needed batteries. Call for details.

Preventative Maintenance:

Help make sure your system is reliable by remembering to take preventative maintenance measures.
We recommend cleaning all smoke sensors with a vacuum at least every few months.
Replace all 9 volt batteries every year.
Run a phone test at least every month.
Replace all batteries as needed. Please see chart below:

Replace with two Duracell® 9 volt alkaline batteries yearly.
Replace with Energizer® 9 volt alkaline batteries yearly.
Replace with a 6 volt lead acid battery every 4-5 years.
Replace with two 9 volt alkaline batteries yearly.
SX5
Replace with two 9 volt alkaline batteries yearly (one at a time). Replace with a 3.6 volt lithium battery every five years. Replace with a 6 volt lead acid battery every five years. Replace with two 9 volt alkaline batteries yearly (one at a time) or with a 3.6 volt lithium battery every two years.
RF Commander
Replace with two 9 volt alkaline batteries yearly (one at a time). Replace with a 3.6 volt lithium battery every 5 years Replace with a 9 volt alkaline battery every year and after a power outage Replace with a 3.6 volt lithium battery every 2 years.
SX6
Replace with two 9 volt alkaline batteries yearly. Replace with a 3.6 volt lithium battery every 5 years. Replace with a 6 volt lead acid battery every 5 years Replace with a 3.6 volt lithium battery every 3-4 years
Concord
Replace with two 9 volt alkaline batteries yearly. Replace with a 3.6 volt lithium battery every 5 years. Replace with a 12 volt lead acid battery every 5 years. Replace with a 3.6 volt lithium battery every 3-4 years.
Concord Express
Replace with two 9 volt alkaline batteries yearly. Replace with a 3.6 volt lithium battery every 5 years Replace with a 6 volt lead acid battery every 5 years. Replace with a 3.6 volt lithium battery every 3-4 years.
Simon 3
Replace with two 9 volt alkaline batteries yearly. Replace with a 3.6 volt lithium battery every 5 years Replace with a 6 volt lead acid battery every 5 years. Replace with a 3.6 volt lithium battery every 3-4 years
UltraGard
Replace with two 9 volt alkaline batteries yearly. Replace with a 3.6 volt lithium battery every 5 years. Replace with a 12 volt lead acid battery every 5 years. Replace with a 3.6 volt lithium battery every 3-4 years
Commander 2000 or Commander 3000
Replace with two 9 volt alkaline batteries yearly Replace with a 3.6 volt lithium battery every 5 years Replace with 6 AA Alkaline batteries yearly, and after a power outage. Replace with a 3.6 volt lithium battery every 3-4 years.

A Sensor Test should be performed monthly. See your owner's manual for details.
A Phone Test should be performed weekly. See your owner's manual for details.
Smoke Sensors should be cleaned every few months along with changing the batteries yearly. Check with the HomeGuard service department for specific procedures.
